# Features & Audiences

> The Features & Audiences screen lists every RAY feature available to the organization, lets an admin activate or deactivate features, choose which tenants each feature is offered to (all tenants, specific tenants and groups, or admins only), and rename features. Found under Administration → Features & Audiences in the RAY admin portal.

## Summary

The **Features & Audiences** screen in the RAY admin portal lists the RAY features (modules)
available to the organization, such as bookings, visitor management or service forms. For each
feature an admin can see whether it is activated, switch it on or off where allowed, and set its
**Audience**: who the feature is offered to. Some features can also be renamed.

## Where to find the Features & Audiences screen

* Menu: **Administration → Features & Audiences** (Arabic: **إدارة ← الميزات والجماهير**)

## Who can access the Features & Audiences screen

The Features & Audiences menu entry is shown only to users with an **Admin** role that includes the
administration feature.

## Features list columns

| Column | Meaning |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Name** | The feature's name: the custom name if one has been set, otherwise the standard name in the portal's language. |
| **Status** | **Activated** (مُفَعَّل) or **Deactivated** (غير مُفَعَّل). For some features the status opens a menu with **Activate** or **Deactivate**. |
| **Audience** | **Tenants**, **Specific Tenants and Groups** or **Admins Only**. |
| Actions | **Edit** opens the feature's audience and name settings. Not shown for every feature. |

Features are sorted by name. The list has no pagination.

## Features that cannot be changed

Some features can be activated, deactivated and edited on the Features & Audiences screen. Others
only show their **Status**: the status has no **Activate** or **Deactivate** menu and the row has no
**Edit** action. Those features cannot be changed on this screen.

## Feature audience options

The **Audience** of a feature decides who is offered the feature.

| Audience option | Arabic label | Who is offered the feature |
| ------------------------------- | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Tenants** | مستأجرين | All tenants. |
| **Specific Tenants and Groups** | مستأجرين ومجموعات محددة | Only the tenants and groups chosen in the feature's settings. At least one tenant or group must be chosen before **Save** is enabled. |
| **Admins Only** | مشرفين فقط | Admins only; no tenants. |

Groups are managed under **Directory → Groups**.

## How to activate or deactivate a feature

1. Open **Administration → Features & Audiences**.
2. In the feature's **Status** column, click the status and choose **Activate** or **Deactivate**.
3. Confirm "Are you sure you want to activate this feature?" or "Are you sure you want to deactivate
   this feature?".

The portal then shows "Your changes will apply after this reload" and reloads itself after a few
seconds. Only features whose status opens a menu can be activated or deactivated.

## How to change who can see a feature

1. Open **Administration → Features & Audiences**.
2. Click **Edit** on the feature's row. The dialog is titled "Edit" followed by the feature name.
3. Under **Audience**, choose **Tenants**, **Specific Tenants and Groups** or **Admins Only**.
4. For **Specific Tenants and Groups**, choose the tenants and/or groups.
5. Click **Save**. **Save** stays disabled until something has changed.

## How to rename a feature

Only some features can be renamed. For those, the edit dialog shows a **Name** field; for the others
it shows only **Audience**.

1. Open **Administration → Features & Audiences**.
2. Click **Edit** on the feature's row.
3. Change **Name**. A name can be set per portal language; the English name is required.
4. Click **Save**.

The custom name is used on this screen and in the **Features** tab of roles in
[Roles & Permissions](/administration/roles-and-permissions).

## Common questions about Features & Audiences

### How do I hide a feature from tenants without switching it off?

Edit the feature and set its **Audience** to **Admins Only**. The feature stays **Activated**.

### How do I make a feature available to only one building or company?

Edit the feature, choose **Specific Tenants and Groups**, and select a group that contains those
tenants. Create the group first under **Directory → Groups** if it does not exist.

### Why is there no Edit button or status menu for a feature?

That feature cannot be changed on the Features & Audiences screen. Contact RAY support to change it.

### Does activating a feature give staff access to its screens?

Not by itself. A staff member sees a feature's portal screens only when one of their roles includes
the feature in its **Features** tab; see
[Roles & Permissions](/administration/roles-and-permissions).
