Summary

The Multi Location Setup screen in the RAY admin portal manages the locations of an organization that runs more than one site, for example several compounds, towers or campuses under one RAY app. Each location has a name and a linked group. Locations let the organization give staff access to one site only (a role limited to a Specific Location) and let staff switch the portal between sites with the location selector in the portal header.

Who can access the Multi Location Setup screen

The Multi Location Setup menu entry is shown only to users with an Admin role that includes the multi-location feature. This is a different feature from the administration feature that shows Roles & Permissions.

How to add a location

  1. Open Administration → Multi Location Setup.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter the Name.
  4. Click Save.

How to rename a location

  1. Open Administration → Multi Location Setup.
  2. Click Edit on the location’s row.
  3. Change the Name.
  4. Click Save.

Deleting a location

Locations cannot be deleted from the Multi Location Setup screen; the list has no delete action.

Location selector in the portal header

The location selector at the top of the RAY admin portal chooses which location the portal is working in. It lists:
  • Global (عالمي), when the user has at least one role that applies to all locations. A user with a Global role sees Global plus every location.
  • Each location for which the user has a role limited to that location.
The selector is hidden when the user has only one choice. Changing the location reloads the menu, which then follows the user’s Global roles plus their roles for the selected location, so screens can appear or disappear. A new role created while a specific location is selected is always limited to that location. See Roles & Permissions.

Common questions about locations

How do I give a manager access to only one site?

Create a role in Administration → Roles & Permissions with Location set to Specific Location and the site chosen, give it the features the manager needs, and assign the manager to it.

Why can’t I see the location selector?

The location selector is hidden when you have only one choice, for example when the organization has one location or when all your roles are limited to the same location.

Why did my menus change when I switched location?

Roles can be limited to one location. When you switch location, the menus show what your Global roles and your roles for the newly selected location allow.

Can I delete a location?

No. The Multi Location Setup screen has no delete action. Rename the location instead, or contact RAY support.
